The other day I was speaking to a friendon the phone. They asked me, "Who do we help with our business?" It was an interesting question because I wanted to answer quickly and abruptly the obvious answer. But I resisted that urge and thought about the question more before responding. What it boiled down to was that we help families and kids have an enjoyable sporting experience wihtin the organization they participate in. It is inevitably always about the kids, and helping them and their programs Thrive.
Too often we see organizations start with the intention of being grassroots organizations and, in the beginning, there is always momentum, an energy that allows it to grow and create a purpose for existence. As organizations grow most lose their mission, their purpose of their why for a lot of reasons.
We often get calls from organizations or people that feel like they are in a rut. Their program is not growing, they aren't winning, they get a lot of complaints, or they feel it is consuming them with little progression or joy. We hear the organization is financially insolvent, or not paying staff enough, or revenue is down. What does any of this have to do with why the organization exists?
In our initial call with a new client, we speak to them about their organization and its mission. From there we dive deeper into what they are looking for, and how this aligns with their mission. Often we don't even speak about tactics or ways to make more money. It is much simpler than that. They have lost their, "Why."
After our initial visit, we take time to analyze our notes and reflect on the conversation to see where, and how we can help. Within a call or two, help the organization down a restorative and, or generative path to fulfilling what they felt was missing, causing their organization to fail, or not meet their expectations. It is challenging and sometimes not painless. But the real winners are the members, the families and the kids, who participate in the organization. We get them back on the path of fulfilling their mission, their "Why."
To date, we have helped with our expertise thousands of kids throughout the United States enjoy a better experience. One that helps improve their self-esteem, and allows them to do what kids should do, Play. That is who we help.
